Sahakar Pragya: The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) will train farmers in primary cooperatives in rural areas of India through its new program Sahakar Pragya initiative. It will provide training to primary cooperatives in rural areas of the country along with the National Cooperative Research and Development Academy.
New Delhi: Sahakar Pragya initiative has been started by the Central Government to train small farmers in the rural areas of the country to make them self-reliant. Under this initiative, farmers in primary cooperatives in rural areas will be trained by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC). The Sahakar Pragya initiative will be implemented through a wide network of 18 Regional Training Centers across India. These regional training centers are run by the National Academy for Cooperative Research and Development, which functions under the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).
The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) will train farmers in primary cooperatives in rural areas of India through its new program Sahakar Pragya Initiative. It will provide training to primary cooperatives in rural areas of the country along with the National Cooperative Research and Development Academy. National Academy for Cooperative Research and Development is fully funded by NCDC. The Sahakar Pragya initiative will be dedicated to increasing the training capacity of NCDC by 18 times through a wide network of 18 Regional Training Centers across the country. Under this Sahakar Pragya initiative, 45 training modules have been prepared. These training modules will help in transfer of knowledge, skills and organizational capabilities. In addition, LINAC plans to train around 5,000 farmers in cooperatives in a year, under this initiative.
There are more than 2.53 lakh gram panchayats in the country and 86 percent of them are small farmers in the country, who cannot invest in agriculture on their own. Under the Sahakar Pragya initiative, the government is focusing on developing facilities like cold storage at the village level for them so that farmers are not forced to sell their produce at low prices. Also, under this Sahakar Pragya initiative, Sahakar will strengthen the flagship initiative of the Government of India to promote and create 10,000 FPOs, NCDC’s guidance videos on Copwatch covering local needs in different languages of 18 states.
NCDC was formed with the objective of planning and promoting programs for production, processing, marketing, storage, export and import of agricultural products, food items, industrial goods, livestock, certain other goods and services such as hospital and healthcare and education etc. has gone. It provides financial assistance to cooperatives at all three levels, primary, district and apex/multi-state. NCDC is known for funding and project ideas for cooperatives across the country, Cooperative Principle has been active in delivering innovative solutions for the cooperative sector.
Cooperative sector has a role in making the poor farmer of the village self-reliant. Today India has a vast network of more than 8.50 lakh cooperative societies with about 290 million members and about 94 percent of farmers in India are members of at least one cooperative. Cooperatives have a major role to play in Atmanirbhar Bharat and empower farmers to reduce risk in agriculture and allied sectors and act as a shield against exploitation by unscrupulous traders.
